show Abstracthide Abstract
Oryza granulata as an upland wild rice species possesses many different traits from other Oryza species, such as tolerance to shade and drought, immune to bacterial blight and resistance to brown planthopper. Within the diploid Oryza species, O. granulata has the second largest genome size (882 Mbp) with a GG genome, only less than O. australiensis (965 Mbp, genome EE), which is about two times the size of the rice genome (420 Mbp, genome AA). This twofold increasing of its size is mainly due to the accumulation of TE, according to the existing research results. Here, we report a de novo assembly and annotation of O. granulate genome using Illumina sequencing and Hi-C data. These data will be expected to provide insights into the dynamics of Oryza genome evolution and divergence, and serve as important genetic resources for rice breeding.
